The Mis-adventures of the Unexpected Cat-sitter
or The Revenge of the Babysat Cat

Day 1 (October 30)

It was my first day back in the office since my week-long site visit (my very first attempt at landscape supervision), when I got a text from April asking me if I could take care of her cat, James, who was presently out of favor in their household for peeing on their computer monitor. After a few more texts, I agree to take care of him for the holidays. We met after I got off from work; I took the delinquent cat home with his ‘baon’ (food, toys, blanket, and kitty-litter) the same day. The ride home was quite uneventful; the refugee cat was quiet and was in a contemplative mood. He didn’t seem to mind that a stranger was rubbing his head. I don’t know if he understood that he was leaving home for a while or that he actually did something bad to warrant such banishment from his home.

We arrive at my house. As expected, he suddenly turned sulky and hid beneath the sofa. He refused to eat and snubbed any friendly overtures for the rest of the night. We introduced him to our cats. Icy just left him alone because he was busy courting cats outdoors. Sleet took one look at him and growled. We kept all three of them apart from then on.

James slept in the living room with gem and me since our rooms are still reeking with the smell of fresh paint (due to a termite infestation we discovered a week ago). Thankfully, the other two chose to sleep outdoors.

Day 2

James seemed to slightly overcome the upheaval of his relocation (although he is still a bit unfriendly). He wakes me up with his crying so he could get fed. He spent the rest of the morning exploring the house, creeping around so we wouldn’t notice…but we did. We left him in my dad’s care for the rest of the afternoon to attend the mini-folio workshop/meet. We arrive home to find out that he has discovered my room. He was hiding out in the empty drawer beneath my bed. We left him alone but proceeded to transfer his stuff in the room. Now, he has a hiding place.

no time for more, will continue this later...
