reading through
neil gaiman's first blog entry of the year got me into thinking of what the previous year had brought in my own so-called life. So I've prepared a run-through of the events of the previous year like him...minus the hugo award, the short stories, the film scripts, the directing, and the comic scripts (still have the last page to figure out in the one i'm writing ). ~_~
forgive me if i've borrowed some of his words here, didn't realize it until I reread his entry. sigh...i'm really a hopeless fan, aren't I? gomenasai! ~_~ anyway, this will have to stand. i'm too lazy to do rewrites eventhough i'm plagiarizing a blog entry...sheez! i guess i'm really out of practice with the writing bit ~_~ Anyhoo, here it goes:
Taking stock of the previous year...Or stuff I haven't already ranted and raved about in my blog
Looking back, I figure it wasn't such a bad year...nothing spectacular to make me scream my head off like an airhead (e.g., winning millions in the lottery, getting the grail folio actually going, receiving fame and adulation from multitudes screaming my countless winning atrributes, etc). A lot
did happen.
In the first quarter of last year I was still slaving away on my thesis, wondering if i'll ever finish and be finally rid of the darn thing. Lots of compromises on that as at the start of the sem, I forced to accept groupmates (they were equally forced to accept me into the group) and abandon my doomed original thesis topic. I finally got tired of banging my head against brick walls (it felt more like granite at the time), accepted the my fate and strived to make the alliance work. It wasn't as smooth-sailing as i hoped but, hey, we produced some sort of a "thesis" in that short span of time. so by april I graduated...I marched, said sayonara to my college, and hightailed it out of the university (for awhile at least).
In
May, i bummed. don't remember the details...just that I rented the first 2seasons of
Inu-yasha (that really kept me busy and drained my pockets as well ~_~); my nieces from the states came home, the older one was my godchild...that amounted to a lot of playtime and visits; fittings for my cousin's wedding started...I was a secondary sponsor. The wedding was in
June and at around the same time I launched this blog,
MAd Universe and started to chronicle my thoughts for my own and a few friends' entertainment, not to mention the unwary surfers who accidentally find their way to this page.
Ooooh, the endless online quizzes that take up half of my entries...it's so fun to be told what or who you are by online quiz makers who are
(1) likely as clueless as you are;
(2) who have so much time to waste to actually spend it on making online quizzes that are gobbled up by other people who equally have nothing better to do; and
(3) who are probably laughing their asses off to have conned so many people and see their victims proudly displaying their quiz results in their respective websites and blogs...teeheehee, THANKS! I'm gonna make my own quiz one of these days and cross sides ^_^
Now where was I? Oh,
July! What's with July? *run the cell network ad here* In july, I panicked. I wasn't getting anywhere with my token online job hunting and started looking at the
Classified Ads...started buying the Manila Bulletin every sunday from then on. And since I finally got my transcript, I had no excuse to delay anymore.
August brought another set of relatives home from the states. Not a very happy mission this time as my cousin's mother-in-law was sick. She died in september and we attended the wake, the same one I mentioned in this
blog...It was fun nonetheless having them home and seeing my nephews again. My cousin even brought me this wonderful book on water gardens which I really can't afford if it became available locally. It's sitting in my priced posession 'shelf' right now.
September. This month was a bit creepy and I wouldn't even say that it was creepy in a nice way, at least not yet. Well, I did get a job out of it so it was somewhat good thing. I just have a tendency to distrust coincidences.
1. my friend
gemki shows me a rather vague ad looking for a number of professionals including landscape architects for a kids' resort/amusement park. there wasn't much details but i sent them a resume thru email just in case. I forget about it for a week.
2. after giving up on waitng for a reply, i receive an email from the company asking me to resend my resume as their computers can't seem to read it. After a few more tries with the same results, they ask me to call them to set up an interview with their architect instead. Of course, being the lazy person that I am (more like an attack of cowardice on my part) I procastinated on calling for a week and eventually decided to pass up the opportunity.
3. Before the week of procastination was over, this happened on a friday, I receive a call early in the morning from my present boss asking if I could come for an interview that very same morning. Another chance at dissing the opportunity since I did have an appointment at the NSO that morning, I told her that I can't make it and asked if the afternoon would do. She asked me more questions--sort of a mini interview--and finally asked me to come for an interview the next day.
4. Was in shock for the rest of the day and then I read my horoscope later in the day . It said that children will become a big part of my life, remember that this was a kids oriented company in which i'm applying. That really gave me goosebumps, honest! And as they say, the rest is history. I went to the interview that saturday and started work that following monday. One of of these days I'll tell someone about what actually transpired during that interview...no, nothing horrific or anything like that. Right now, it still feels too weird and too personal to relate to anyone. Let's just say that my boss has a knack of seeing through people and their facades.
On to October! My first month at work was spent almost entirely at the office with only a week of site duty. I really don't have horror stories about my co-workers as I get along almost everyone. Maybe because most of the people there are also from UP including my boss. Anyway, I discover that the other architects there are fans of Neil Gaiman and his
The Sandman series, what more can I ask for?
November. The major part of the month was spent away from home since I got landed with site duty. The work isn't too bad...it just entails supervising landscape construction for the most part. If only the site wasn't in far off cavite. I think this was about the same time that my mom threatened to call up my office and complain about my being assigned there so much. Lucky for me, I had the foresight to not leave my office number with her before. I sulked in cavite and extended my stay for a week eventhough it wasn't needed. After that she's been quiet on the subject but I know that she's not finished with it either.
December wasn't really all that fine and dandy either since I got reprimanded big time at work for an error brought by some miscommunication. Took it in my stride though as it was partly my fault, at least I didn't get fired...
The highlight of the month was the lantern parade, the christmas parties and 13th month pay. What more can I say? Lots of fun for everyone...tralala...tralalala...tralala-lalalala...
So here we are faced with a brand new year, let's see what it brings.
