Lets pretend...
Ok I will pretend that the buzzkiller didn't happen. I'm good at ignoring things so might as well forget. I've decided also to play khan later this evening and i've even bought a card. And instead of buying a 10 hour worth card I ended up buying a 10 day unlimited one which I'm not likely to get to use unless i don't go to work...hmmm
This is how the day went...
Just another day. Nothing special the world does not stop for a mere individual, not for anyone. Just a typical day, I didn't even take the day off. There's something weird about spending the very first few hours of your birthday in the office (being in night shift this could not be helped), it takes out the magic in it and you are forced to realize that its just another day.
I had hoped to slip out of the office unnoticed like last year, without people any wiser about the birthday exept for my close friends there but I wasn't so lucky as one of my old team mates who is now a team leader greeted me loudly at around dawn thus blowing my cover. At least it got me a greeting from my crush in the office, hehe.
Needless to say, I refused to go on overtime and went straight home no gimmicks, no fuss. I had a busy night ahead of me so I needed my rest.
One of the best gifts i got was the morning that greeted me. The past few days were all gloomy and gray what with all the rain showers that we had. And that day it was decided that there should be a respite and the sun made an appearance along with some of the most fascinating cloud formations I've seen. I'm a cloud watcher, and I think almost all kinds of clouds were gracing the sky that morning (yep, even rainclouds were present in the far off distance). The day promised to be special and I decided to give my cynic self a rest and enjoy the day.
Nothing much happened in between getting home and going out again for the night out. Just slept or at least tried to and I got a measley 3 hours total, too excited I guess.
Before going to the gig, of course , we had to eat. So there was a stopover at Napoli in Timog (the venue of the controversial 'blowout') Then off we go to 70's Bistro. It's a good thing we made reservations since we got the best seats, hehe. We came to watch Razorback and little did I know there was a surprise waiting for me. The opening act was the new band of my favorite guitarist Manuel Legarda (from wolfgang, my crush hehe). Was really thrilled when he came in and started setting up and tuning his guitar. Needless to say I ventured to change seats nearer the stage and right smack in front of him. It turned out that he has a new band called The Dirt comprised of members from other disbanded groups. Was crossing my fingers the entire set wishing that he won't get off the stage. And it turned out that he didn't all because the guitarist for Razorback was unavailable and Manuel was their session guitarist. Aha, wishes do come true.
I admit I was too preooccupied watching the show that I'm afraid I wasn't a very good host. That's the point of having a birthday in a bar with loud music you don't really have to play host ^____^
All in all I guess we had a pretty good time (at least I know I did), I wasn't sure how my college friends and office friends would hit off but then again there weren't really any fights that broke out so I'd say it was successful.
Awww...so little time so much fun to be had, I didn't want to go home (but I gladly would've taken Manuel home hehehehehehe)
I dug this up from the bowels of my disk drive, it's an excerpt from something I wrote years ago...its about Manuel way back my moshing days hehehe
well i went to your concert again
got myself black & blued
got home safe & sound
but with a bruise on my head
i hope you don't mind my staring
just can't help myself
you really strummed those strings with vengeance
what got into you?
